This scenery was created for Microsoft Flight Simulator 9 for a DC-3 Airways Charter "On the Wings of an Ancient Pelican", based on EK Gann's account of a ferry flight from San Francisco to Apia. It probably won't work with earlier versions of Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Please do not upload this scenery to any sites without my express permission.

Everything here is freeware - please do not use it for money-making purposes.

There is no way it is likely to harm your computer if installed correctly, and I shall not entertain any claim to the contrary.

EK Gann (for publishing his account of the original flight);
Lee Swordy (for AFCAD2) - used to create the AFCAD files for NSFA (Faleolo Intl) and PCIS (Canton AFLD);
Pascal Meziat, Tom Hiscox, and Brian McWilliams (for Airport for Windows)  -  used to create the "Ocean Station November" scenery;
Phil Crowther (for the Liberty ship api from "libertyship.zip" (on www.avsim.com) used in the "Ocean Station November Scenery");
Perry A. Sloan for permission to use the "Ancient_Pelican.jpg" artwork which was cropped from a Polynesian Airlines Timetable of 30th Oct 1983 on his www.airtimes website.

Installation:

Copy the "Ancient Pelican" folder into the FS9 "Addon Scenery" folder.
Start FS9 and install the "Ancient Pelican" scenery.
Exit FS9.
(alternative installation - just copy the three .bgl files from the "Ancient Pelican\Scenery" folder into the "Addon Scenery\Scenery" folder).
Whichever installation method you use, if you use FSNav, run the FSNav DBC.

File Descriptions:

AF2_PCIS.bgl - EKG mentions a NDB transmitter at Canton Island which is missing from the default scenery (now closed down?). I have no details of this transmitter, but the file adds a (75nm range) NDB CTN, 274.0, at S02*46.09', W171*43.34'. I've also added a hardstanding and a couple of parking spots in case you find Samoa is "weathered in".

AF2_NSFA.bgl - EKG mentions that Faleolo still had a grass runway. I don't know where or what size it was, and presumably it was replaced by the modern hard runway, but this scenery adds a 4400ft x 200ft runway (8R/26L) with whitewashed edges and minimal night lighting between 8/26 and the taxiway.

Ocean Station November.bgl - EKG doesn't mention it, but Ocean Station November was a USCG position sited halfway between San Francisco and Hawaii at the time of the original flight. The scenery adds (75nm range) NDB 4YN, 488.0, at N30* 00.00', W120* 00.00'. I couldn't find a suitable USCG cutter, so a Liberty Ship has been pressed into service for the benefit of anyone wishing to "check the height of her masts". Unfortunately I couldn't work out how to install an automated weather broadcast.
